How do you like your classic vodka martini? On the rocks? Lemon twist or olive spear? Dirty, dry or burnt? Shaken or stirred? And what type of vodka do you prefer? All important questions when deciding what your taste buds like. A few combinations taste better than others. If you like your martini on the rocks a twist of lemon would be preferable over the olive spear. If you like your martini dirty, shaken is much better than stirred. Step by step this is how to make my version of a ‘Dollishes’ classic vodka martini. First vodka dolls, put your martini glass in the freezer to chill, it should come out looking nice and frosty. The vodka you select to make your classic martini is very important; my favourite is Belvedere because its not too strong and not wimpy either. Take a shot glass and pour 2 1/2 ounce of vodka in a martini shaker with heaps of ice, add 1/2 an ounce of dry vermouth and 1 tablespoon of olive juice. Put the lid on (with the cap please – I’ve seen people forget this step and it’s not pretty if you are all dolled up for a night on the town) and shake as vigorously as you can for 20-30 seconds, use those muscles. Next step, take the cap off and pour the lovely mixture (no ice) into your frosted martini glass and add an 2 speared olives. Finally, remember a martini always tastes better if you have a sexy man or other vodka dolls to enjoy it with.
